March President's Message
It is truly an honor to step into the role of President of the Integration Association of Florida and to share my first message with you. As I reflect on this moment, I’m reminded of where my journey in this industry began, working alongside my father in his audio-visual and electronics shop. That’s where I first learned to read resistor color codes and connect transistors, resistors, and diodes on circuit boards. I also learned how to splice and join motion picture films on the large reels that played in cinemas.
Those early experiences didn’t just teach me technical skills, they sparked a lifelong passion for this industry that has now spanned more than three decades.I want to begin by thanking the board of directors and our members for putting their trust in me. Our 2026 Convention at the Rosen Plaza Hotel was a tremendous success thanks to all our members, sponsors, and staff. I heard so many positive comments and everyone was energized, optimistic, and truly happy to be there.
I want to take a moment and thank Diego del Pino for leading IAF through some tough legislative times in 2025. I have learned a great deal from him over the past 12 months and consider him a great friend. I also want to recognize that our association would not be able to do what we do without Shannon Few, our Executive Director, whose leadership, frequent communications, event coordination, and unwavering support, along with the dedication of her team, keep us moving forward every day.
As we look ahead, we’re excited to kick off our Spring Regional Meetings. These events are an important opportunity for us to connect directly with you and to listen, learn, and better understand the needs of our members. I strongly encourage you to attend and share your insights.
One of our top priorities moving forward is workforce development. As an industry, our future depends on our ability to attract, train, and retain the next generation of professionals. We are focused on expanding industry-specific training programs that equip new talent with the skills they need to succeed while helping our member companies build stronger, more capable teams. By connecting job seekers with meaningful career opportunities, we strengthen not only our members, but the industry as a whole.
Planning for the 2027 IAF Annual Convention is well underway and will take place February 17-19 at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, more to come on that. As we continue to grow our membership in 2026 with a goal of hitting 600 members by the end of the year, we expect to capitalize on our momentum for an even more dynamic, engaging, and impactful event next year!
Having spent 32 years in this industry across both Canada and the United States, I can say with confidence that it has provided incredible opportunities, not just professionally, but personally for me and my family. That’s why I’m so passionate about encouraging the next generation to consider careers in our field. They are our future, and together, we have the ability to shape the path ahead for them.
In addition, please see below for all of the details on our 2nd Annual Clay Shoot to raise money for our PAC! I hope many of you will join us for this very important event to help us achieve our legislative priorities! It promises to be a great event once again this year!
As I begin this term, I want you to know that I am fully committed to putting in the work needed to ensure the next 12 months are marked by growth, progress, and success for all our members.
Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.
